Clara Oswald is a fictional character created by Steven Moffat and played by Jenna Coleman in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who, which has been airing for almost 50 years. Clara was a companion of the extraterrestrial time traveller known as the Doctor in his eleventh (Matt Smith) and twelfth (Peter Capaldi) incarnations on the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who. She first appeared in the show's seventh series and continued to appear in subsequent seasons. She has been a companion on the programme for more than a decade, making her one of its longest-serving characters.

Clara is introduced to the audience throughout the seventh series as three unique, albeit identically named, persons who live in three different times, all of whom are called Clara. Neither of the Oswald incarnations survive the episode in which they appear: Oswin Oswald and Clara Oswin Oswald both perish. The third incarnation becomes the Doctor's travelling companion, accompanying him for the duration of the series as he attempts to unravel the riddle of her countless lives and reincarnations. Even when the mystery is answered at the conclusion of the series, she continues to travel with the Doctor, observing him regenerate into his twelfth incarnation in "The Time of the Doctor" in the last episode (2013). Throughout the eighth and ninth series, the two go on a variety of adventures together until she is forced to leave the programme in "Hell Bent" (2015). She makes a short cameo appearance in the Christmas special "Twice Upon a Time" (2017).
