Mike is a young lad growing up in mediaeval times who has a promising future ahead of him. A noble knight, Mike is determined to follow in his father's footsteps and become the heir to the throne of Glendragon, the kingdom he was born into. It is up to the pint-sized knight-in-training to fulfil quests, which he strives to do with the assistance of his pals, who include younger sister Evie, best buddy Galahad, and a pair of dragons, Sparkie and Squirt, among other characters. Squirt is a small water-breathing dragon that likes to hang out with Mike and Sparkie. Evie is a wizard-in-training who believes that magic can solve nearly any problem. Galahad is always willing to lend a hand, regardless of whether or not he believes Mike is on the right path. Sparkie is a laid-back fire-breathing dragon that likes to hang out with Mike and Sparkie. As a result of his friends' support and his rallying cry, "be a knight, do it properly," Mike finds the importance of taking responsibility and learning to conduct himself appropriately.
