Monster High (often abbreviated as MH) is a fashion doll series created and owned by Mattel in the United States. In 2010, Garrett Sander developed the comic, which included artwork by Kellee Riley and Glen Hanson. After starting out as a collection of dolls, it quickly grew to encompass a wide range of other consumer goods that are primarily targeted at children, including different sorts of toys, apparel and accessories, books and comics, stationery, and other such items. Among the many influences on the characters are monster movies, science fiction horror, thriller fiction, folklore, mythology, and popular culture, among others.
A short period of time following the premiere, an animated web series was created and made available on YouTube. After that, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment produced and released many direct-to-video television specials and feature films, which were distributed on home video formats by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and shown in the United States on cable television channel Nickelodeon. During the digital age, audiovisual media was promoted as the modern-day motivation for the introduction of new doll characters. Using redesigned face moulds, enhanced animation technologies and processes, a catchphrase ("How Do You Boo?"), and the song "This Is How We Boo," sung by Jordin Sparks, Mattel launched a relaunch and origin narrative entitled Welcome to Monster High in 2016.
On February 23, 2021, Mattel announced the return of the Monster High brand, announcing new content and items for the next year. The Monster High brand has been around since 1989. According to the company's television division, a new animated series and a live-action feature based on the brand have been revealed. In the United States, both programmes will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2022, according to the network.
