Releasing February 16, Mario vs. Donkey Kong for the Nintendo Switch reignites these two iconic characters' long-time rivalry. The game was originally released in 2004 for the Gameboy Advance, and this remastered game comes with updated graphics and all new features.
The game’s story follows Donkey Kong wanting the hot new Mini-Mario toy. However, when he finds they are all sold out, he breaks into the factory where they were made and steals them all. Now it's up to Mario to complete 130 levels full of puzzles and open the locked door containing a Mini-Mario. All these levels have enemies to avoid, various switches and lifts to control, and various other obstacles stopping you from reaching the precious key. It's up to you as Mario to use your wits and determine the best way to complete each level.
If you're struggling, the Nintendo Switch version introduces local co-op, meaning you and a friend or family member can work together to complete levels. This isn't the only new feature this remaster brings, as two new exclusive worlds can be explored, and a new casual mode makes the game suitable for a more relaxed playstyle. Or if you want more of a challenge, the new time attack mode will task you with completing each level as quickly as possible.
This remastered version of 'Mario vs. Donkey Kong' also introduces a unique level editor feature, allowing players to unleash their creativity. Gamers can design their own challenging levels using the various elements found throughout the game, like traps, enemies and puzzles.
This not only extends the game's replayability but also allows players to share their custom levels with the online community, adding a new dimension of interaction and competition.
